German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus wanted to see why we forget things over some time, after some research, he introduced the forgetting curve. The forgetting curve is a visual representation of our habit of forgetting things over some time.
In this method, you learn for the first time and then you revisit your notes of that chapter after 2 days and then 4 days, and on and on, tuis don't allow your retention graph to incline tremendously.
In his research, Herman Ebbinghaus showed that over learn g also helps in preventing the slope of the retention graph to inclined tremendously.
Do everything you can to make the material that you need to learn clear, relevant and purposeful, and establish a strong reason for retaining it. The more you know how something will benefit you in the long term, the more likely your memory will prioritize it.
