Studies show that there are these are the three causes of regret:

When we decide to not actively pursue the things that we want to, in retrospect, it will bring enduring regrets of what could have been. There are some things that we could have done at that time and some we could have prevented had we not done it.

  1. Make sure to spend time thinking about your decisions twice or thrice, but don't let it eat you up.
  2. Stop undermining your relationships, both romantic and platonic.
  3. Learn how to seize opportunities. You can't go back in time. Whatever you choose to do, whether study or travel or both, your experiences are your own.
  4. Lay down your personal values and make decisions based on them. As long as you have a good justification for a decision to be made now, at least you won't regret it later.
