Here are the few learnings that I wanted to share and save for future reference.<h2>Record while consuming the content that resonates with you</h2>I never considered documenting or taking notes from YouTube videos or books we read. after some time I completely forget what I watched, so when I need something, I go to Google and look it up again. It gives me nearly identical web pages to those I've seen before. As a result, I'll have to repeat the entire research process. This looks to be time-consuming. I was pondering why humans don't recall things for long periods of time. Why do we need to go through everything again?Then one day I come across the videos of Ali Abdaal. where he talks about the topics like the method of study, Second brain, productivity, how to remember everything, etc. It seems like he made those videos to help me.Those lessons are so valuable to me. I have learned about having the documentation of the work that we are doing. We won't have to go through the entire research process again in the near future if we've previously taken notes.<h2>How Forgetting Curve works?</h2>When we watching any video or lecture it seems like we understand everything. and we will never forget it. but this is not true.As per the theory by <a href="https://g.co/kgs/a9z4og" dir="ltr">Hermann Ebbinghaus</a>, Whatever we learn we forgot half of it in few minutes or 1 hour. After 1 day we remember only 33%. after 2 days it will remain only 28%.Rate of learning = rate of forgetting.If we don't recall what we learn, we will forget. So it's important to get some takeaways to recall. If you recall the learning material in a spaced interval, it will stay for a long time in your memory.To remember things for a long time we need actively recall/revise them in the spaced intervals.
