Make birth a great memory

Make birth a great memory

The labour and birth of our first babies is a time of heightened awareness, and the memories become part of who we are and the women we become. Therefore it is really important to make the experience as good as possible so it becomes a pleasant memory.

Being a mother is a demanding and responsible 24/7 job, so it’s best to feel as strong, invincible and competent as possible when you begin that journey.

How to have a homely birth in hospital

How to have a homely birth in hospital

Bring a birthing ball for you to sit on.

Bring tiny pillows that you can use on the bed or also kneel on them. They look like home and they smell like home.

Bring drinks and snacks. When women run on empty during labour, the pain feels much worse than it is.

Bring music - whether it’s soothing classical music, or pumping rock music – pack your iPod and listen to whatever makes you feel most at home.

Bring a change of clothes in case you vomit or your waters break unexpectedly.

Bring flip-flops because are ideal to walk around in and are easy to pack.

What can your partner do?

What can your partner do?

•To take control of the room and welcome everyone who comes in. To find out who they are and what they need.

•Turn out the lights to make the room as dark as possible.

•Encourage you to move around when appropriate. •Encourage you to make frequent trips to the loo to keep your bladder empty.

•Offer emotional support with loving words, kisses and cuddles.

•Talk you through any breathing and relaxation techniques.

•Keep you nourished with sweet drinks and snacks. Help you find comfortable standing, leaning or squatting positions to keep labour progressing

Great interesting short snippets of informative articles. Highly recommended to anyone who loves information and lacks patience.

This app is LOADED with RELEVANT, HELPFUL, AND EDUCATIONAL material. It is creatively intellectual, yet minimal enough to not overstimulate and create a learning block. I am exceptionally impressed with this app!

Shankul Varada

Great for quick bits of information and interesting ideas around whatever topics you are interested in. Visually, it looks great as well.

I have only been using it for a few days now, but I have found answers to questions I had never consciously formulated, or to problems I face everyday at work or at home. I wish I had found this earlier, highly recommended!

Giovanna Scalzone

Brilliant. It feels fresh and encouraging. So many interesting pieces of information that are just enough to absorb and apply. So happy I found this.
