There are things most people buy every day that are not worth the money. sense I've been diving into minimalism over the past few years i have stopped buying a ton of stuff and this is a list of the things that are not worth the money.

Pure Bred Dogs&nbsp;Now, I personally don’t have a dog yet but when we do get one, we will get one from a shelter. I don’t see the point of buying a purebred dog for $4,000 when there are thousands of other dogs sitting in shelters that need homes for $300-$500. Every situation is different and this is just my personal opinion.&nbsp;2.) Headphones&nbsp;&nbsp;So I have had all different kinds of headphones. Everything from cheap amazon ones to AirPods to Beats. They all have similar quality sound in my opinion and my favorite pair so far are $50 wyze headphones. They work just as well and are a lot cheaper than other headphones.&nbsp;3.) Kitchen Appliances&nbsp;&nbsp;I’ve done this and seen it happen plenty of times, you buy a kitchen appliance that only has one purpose, you use it for a little bit and eventually, it gets tucked into the back of the cabinet and then donated after a few years of collecting dust. Maybe instead of buying these new, you could try thrifting it or borrowing it from a friend to make sure you’re in it for the long haul before spending all that money on it.4.) Name Brand anything&nbsp;&nbsp;We’ll use food as our first example. A lot of the time, name brand vs store brand taste exactly the same except the store brand is cheaper, usually by 10%. We do the same thing with clothes, shoes, bags, you name it. People will spend $300 on a pair of name brand shoes just because they are name brand when you could get something similar for cheaper or even the same thing at a thrift store. A lot of time people buy the name not the product. Now, there are some brands that I specifically stick too, like Google phone. I buy them because I like the quality of the product. I like that the battery lasts a long time, the camera is decent, and I just really don’t like Apple.&nbsp;5.) Water&nbsp;&nbsp;Surprisingly, people spend a lot of money on bottled water when they could get that same water from the tap. Bottled water on average is about $1.50. You could also buy bottled water in bulk so you only spend about 10 cents per bottle.I understand that some people’s tap water isn’t drinkable and at our second apartment, it wasn’t, so we got a filtration system that allowed us to utilize the tap water. You can buy a good water bottle to take water on the go so you don’t have to stop and buy a water at the gas station. While it is a small thing, it is grossly over priced.&nbsp;6.) Phones&nbsp;New phones. When a new phone coms out or any new piece of technology, everyone rushes to buy it. It’s very hard not to jump on that bandwagon but it seems a little ridiculous to spend anywhere from $800-$1,200 on something just a little bit better than the phone I just bought last year. I try to use my technology until it dies instead of just upgrading every year to something slightly better.&nbsp;7.) Cable&nbsp;&nbsp;The average cost of cable every month is around $75. One of the things I don’t like about cable besides its really high price is that you can get pretty much anything on cable through another streaming service like Netflix or HBO which will only run about $10 a month. Plus, if you use cable, you have to watch all those ads. So if you want to watch an hour and a half long movie on cable, it might take you two hours with all the ads. It’s a big time suck and you waste a lot of time watching the ads.&nbsp;8.) A Degree&nbsp;&nbsp;I know so many people who went to college for four years, weren’t sure what they wanted to do or ended up changing their mind half way through and now don’t even use their degree. There are a lot of people who don’t know what they want to do when they graduate high school but because it’s a social norm, they pick a degree and go for it; then they spend four years of their life not making money because they’re paying off $50,000-$100,000 worth of student loan debt to get a degree for a job you’re only 50% sure you even want to do.9.) Drinking&nbsp;&nbsp;Drinking out is so expensive! I personally only drink a couple times a month and it’s a home. It’s super common for people to buy a shot at a bar for $8 when they could buy the entire bottle for $15. I know that drinks are where a lot of restaurants make their money but for me, I don’t want to double the price of my meal but getting two drinks at a restaurant for $12 a piece. I’d rather buy more food. On special occasions, my wife and I will order a drink at a restaurant for birthdays or anniversaries but if we are just going out, we don’t usually order drinks.&nbsp;10.) Weddings&nbsp;I got married a couple years ago and at our wedding we maybe spent $3,000 on everything. I don’t remember most of my wedding and I know other people don’t remember most of theirs either because everything is so crazy. Most of the money you spend on your wedding is so other people have a good time drinking, dancing, and eating, all that fun stuff. The average price of a wedding in the US is $30,000. I don’t think that’s a great way to start a marriage especially if you can’t afford to spend that much and you’re getting into debt over one night.&nbsp;Thanks for reading, hope you have a great week!&nbsp;

1.) Pure Bred Dogs
