The number one source of social inequality in the educational sector is the family, namely the parents. They reproduce existing inequalities and, thus, exacerbate them because educational success is heavily dependent on the opportunities the parents can grant their children. Such opportunities include access to:

• Tutoring
• Playing an instrument (most inequal aspect)
• Books
• Healthcare
• Internet
• Sports
• Social activities (clubs etc.)
• Practical skills (gardening, handworks etc.)

A solution would be to give schools the competence over these opportunities (e.g. free school sports etc.)
