Work & Meta-work

Doing the work is about producing something of value, especially to others (ex: designing something, interviewing stakeholders, capturing insights in a Google Doc, drawing a conceptual model, etc). Work produces artifacts that create value for the organization.

Meta-work is everything else you must do to make that work possible. (this can include thinking about what must be done next, in what sequence, what materials or resources you’ll need, who you need to talk with, figuring out when they’re available, scheduling calls, etc). It is part time management, part systems, part habits etc.

Really resonated with the distinction here. Especially since a lot of the value of the knowledge we talk about on Deepstash has to do with meta-work.

1. Reserve Mornings for Deep Work

You can use the Pomodoro Technique get into the state of flow: work for 25 minutes on a single task and then take a short break of 5 minutes. If you get in the habit of performing Deep Work in the morning, even for just half an hour, your work will rapidly compound over time. Focus on performing Deep Work, meaning you get to work free of distraction for a long time.

Misinformation Vs Disinformation

Misinformation is generally spread without malice or intent. Disinformation, on the other hand, is generally organized and has a specific outcome in mind.

For example, during school days, the misinformation heard around Beef Jerky Sticks containing earthworms became so widespread that even now there are thousands of Google searches for the topic and the company even had special hotlines to handle questions.
