How can we bring this knowledge in our practice of Pomodoro. Keep a diary or a page. Whenever something distracting pops up. Write it down and continue. When you write it down somewhere brain can let it go. End of the day our brain trusts the paper more than us. This is effective even without the pomodoro mode. Acknowledgment is the key.

Why we procrastinate

Procrastination is more about our emotions than our tendencies for laziness or just being “bad at deadlines”. At its core, we procrastinate to keep ourselves happy in the moment.

We procrastinate because our brains are wired to care more about our present comfort than our future happiness.

Multitasking vs monotasking

Multitasking fractures your attention between multiple tasks at the same time; monotasking fully focuses on one task.

  • Multitasking is less about being able to work on more tasks at the same time, and more about hoe we switch between different tasks while not giving our full attention to any of them.
  • Monotasking (single-tasking) means working on one task at a time and it helps to increase our creativity, energy, and focus.
