Questions to know how dependable is someone
  • Do they get excited when I make intellectual progress, or only when they influence my views?
  • Are they fearful about sharing their ideas? Are they over-eager for others to approve of their ideas?
  • Are they willing and able to clarify their meaning if I ask them to?
  • Do they demonstrate an appreciation of my unique perspective, needs and abilities?

How to stop worrying & start living

What is creativity

Creativity is taking what's already present and connecting them in ways that haven't been done previously.

  • Research suggests both creativity and non-creativity are learned. Some people are more primed than others to be creative but nearly every person is born with some level of creativity and majority of creative thinking abilities are trainable.
  • "I'm just not the creative type" doesn't truly exist.
  • The creative process:
  1. Gather new material.
  2. Look at the facts from different angle trying to fit various ideas together.
  3. Do something totally unrelated that excites & energizes you.
  4. Let the idea return to you.
  5. Shape & develop the idea based on feedback.
How to make better decisions

"We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used to create them." - Albert Einstein

  • Colin Powell's 40-70 rule: Never make decision with less than 40% or gather more than 70% information available.
  • Practice exponential thinking: Instead of fixing small problems, focus on solving the root cause.
  1. Get to the underlying problem.
  2. Fill your thoughts with "what if" statements.
  3. Read about and gather information about it.
  4. Extrapolate. Try out scenarios to find the best approach.
  • Create a not-to-do list to know which tasks shouldn't drain your time.
  • Study your errors to know what could have been done better or avoided. This creates a guiding inventory for future decisions.
