Another way of dealing with criticism is to thank the person who gave it for their opinion, consider whether they have a valid point, ignore it if they don’t and change your plans if and only if there is any truth to their argument. This is probably the rational, mature way of dealing with criticism.
3.List your life goals . What is it you want to accomplish in life? Not just with work, but personally? If you’ve listed them before, it’s always good to update them. Then choose one of those goals to achieve this year. Now think about what you can do today to move closer to that goal, even if it’s just a small thing. Get the ball rolling. Do this every day — move yourself closer to that goal.
Being afraid to ask for help is a sure-fire way to feel overwhelmed. Feeling overwhelmed is bad enough without making yourself feel alone as well. Take advantage of the people in your network who have skills and knowledge that you don’t. More often than not, people are happy to help in any way they can. Feeling like someone has your back is a great way to stay calm.
The 80/20 rule says that 20% of the task often accounts for 80% of the value of that task.
This is probably what Confucius meant when he said that, ‘‘A journey of 1,000 leagues begins with a single step.’’
Once you have taken even one small step to start the job, you will often find yourself continuing on with the task to completion.
