Control Over Emotions Is Real Wisdom.

Emotional baggage is a term used to describe a phenomenon whereby one carries past trauma, negative experiences, and feelings through their life. This can negatively affect you as you move through careers, relationships, and general life decisions.

Even once you unpack your baggage, the work isn’t done! You must constantly apply new, positive methods to ensure that baggage doesn’t build up again. It’s an uphill battle at times, but it’s very worth it. If you want a purposeful life that is meaningful and fulfilling, letting go of emotional baggage and healing their trauma is the best way to go!

Metacognition is a fancy word for what we all know and do hundreds of times each day. Ever tried to focus your attention? Attempted to regulate an emotion? Felt distracted and made the decision to put away your phone? Each is an example of recognizing a mental state and trying to control it.

Metacognition involves the scientific study of how  the mind can be aware of, and control, its own activity. Understanding how the mind works gives us insight into how we can use it better — an instructional how-to guide tailored to our personal psyches.

When we can simply allow life to unfold naturally without being attached to outcomes, beliefs, feelings or opinions, then we experience true non-attachment.

Picture this process of detachment like being an ice cube that slowly melts down into a puddle of flowing water. Water, like the practice of non-attachment, flows with life effortlessly and peacefully, whereas ice cubes do not. The goal of non-attachment, therefore, is to become like water.
