When birds flock in larger numbers than usual to locations where they've become aware of the food being given away, it results in overcrowding which is a disruption of the ecosystem.

In addition to this, overcrowding affects terrain and migration patterns. Birds who know that they will receive food will stick around longer than usual and jeopardize their own survival.
