Greek Mythology

Laelaps and teumessian fox pardox : So the teumessian fox or cadmean vixen in Greek mythology was a gigantic fox destined to never be caught. It was sent to prey the children of Thebes as a punishment for a national crime. Creon who was the regent of Thebes gave the task of catching the fox to Amphitryon who passes the task to laelaps, the magical dog that was destined to catch everything it chased. Zeus faced a contradiction with the paradoxical nature of their mutually excluding abilities, turned them into stone. The pair was cast into the stars as canis major and canis minor.
