Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's Eldest Son : Sambhaji Maharaj

Sambhaji Bhosale  was born on 14 May 1657 & was the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, who ruled from 16 January 1681 to 11 March 1689.

He was the eldest son of Shivaji, founder of the Maratha Empire. Sambhaji's rule was largely shaped by the ongoing wars between the Maratha kingdom and Mughal Empire as well as other neighbouring powers such as the Siddis, Mysore and the Portuguse in Goa.

In his short rule spanning nine years, Sambhaji gained recognition for his valour and patriotism. He continues to be celebrated, particularly in Maharashtra, as the ruler who chose death over conversion
