In the book 1984 by George Orwell, people are controlled by inflicting pain. But in Brave New World by Huxley, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. Huxley feared those who would give us so much that we would be reduced to passivity and egotism. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. So how do we take back control over our own pleasure?
Because that's really what social media is, dopamine in our pocket.
