In India, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a gateway to the top engineering colleges in the country, including the Indian Institutes of Technology. The exam is divided into two tiers: JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. While anyone can take JEE Mains, only the top 1-2 lakh (100,000-200,000) students who qualify can take JEE Advanced. The Indian education system is geared towards preparing high school students for this rigorous exam, with many starting JEE coaching as early as 6th or 7th grade, and most beginning in 11th grade. The pressure to excel is immense, sacrificing all the hobbies.
