Ethical Expertise in Crime Scene Analysis

They do not confuse themselves for mental health professionals and attempt to “diagnose” the crime scene (unless they have those credentials and have conducted the proper assessments—in which case they are not prof i ling a crime scene but assessing a subject); they know their methods, and any inherent limitations, as they can be distinguished from the methods of others; and they do not play on the ignorance of the public or other professionals when doing their work.
