Can you judge a book by its cover?

Science has shown us that we are terrible at making predictions and trying to read others' thoughts or feelings, and we lean into confirmation bias.

We tend to confirm things we already believe and are terrible at reading others, assuming their thoughts or motivations.

Criminal profiling is a great example of where even random guesses can be more accurate, and "double-blind" studies are used to reduce bias.

There is no one method or foolproof way of judging others.
