Firewalls decide what network data can come in or out. They have 3 main ways to do it:

1. Packet Filtering: Only allows specific traffic based on rules.
2. Stateful Inspection: Tracks active connections and denies new ones if they don't match.
3. Proxy Service: Acts as a middleman between user and internet to check for suspicious activity.
