The color wheel is comprised of twelve segments, including primary, secondary, and tertiary hues. The three primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) form an equilateral triangle. The secondary hues (orange, green, and violet) are created by combining two primary colors, and are placed between them on the wheel. Tertiary colors are created by combining a primary with a neighboring secondary color. In addition, you have tints and shades, which are the incremental addition of white and black to hues, respectively, creating lighter and darker versions of those hues.
