The concept of April Fools Day started in 1582 according to some historians.
As France made the change from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.
While the new year got underway with the spring equinox around the date ofĀ April 1Ā in the Julian calendar, the Gregorian calendar begins the year on January 1.
Therefore, anyone who still celebrated the new year in the last week of March until 1 was laughed at and called "April fools".

Well some might think that the whole concept of April Fools is also a prank on the whole. It might actually be true because the concept of this day is to fool/prank somebody. The originator must have fooled somebody by starting a rumor that this day is known as APRIL FOOLS DAYĀ !!
