It all started when computer technologies were first being developed. One of the pioneers of digital art was a guy named Ben Laposky, who created his first electronic images using an oscilloscope in 1952.
But it wasn't until the 1960s that computer graphics became more widely accessible, with the advent of the first computer drawing programs. In those early days, digital art was mostly created using vector graphics, which allowed for precise and scalable images.
The first computer-generated artwork was made by an artist named Kenneth Knowlton in 1963, using an IBM 7094 computer. He manipulated photographic images on the computer to create a series of abstract works that were among the first examples of digital art.
As computer technology advanced during the 1970s and 1980s, new tools and techniques were developed for creating digital art. Paint programs were created, which allowed artists to create images using a mouse or other input device. In the 1980s, 3D graphics software was introduced, which made it possible to create complex and lifelike digital images.
In the 1990s, the rise of the internet and digital media created even more opportunities for digital artists. New software tools and online platforms made it easier for artists to create and share their work with a global audience. Virtual reality technology also emerged during this time, opening up new possibilities for creating immersive and interactive digital environments.
From its origins in the 1960s to the present day, digital art has evolved into a diverse and innovative art form, enabled by technology and the internet, and constantly pushing the boundaries of what's possible.Digital art is a stunning marvel of creativity, technology, and innovation that's constantly evolving.
