One Piece - Deepstash
BEING FREE MEANS FREEING OTHERS

BEING FREE MEANS FREEING OTHERS

Luffy is known for his constant declarations that he will be King of the Pirates, but it is his first act as a pirate that shows what that means to Luffy. He frees Koby, a young boy who dreams of becoming a Navy admiral, from the hands of another pirate. After doing so, he declares that Koby will join the Navy with just as much confidence as his normal catchphrase. Through this act, we see the start of what will become Luffy's defining characteristic: his willingness to extend a hand to the downtrodden, breaking their chains so they can fight for themselves.
