1. The Poor In Spirit

1. The Poor In Spirit

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of Heaven.”

First step before anything is to realize that we are absolutely nothing without God. We are simply nothing but dirt without the Almighty. After realizing this, then we can go forth as the poor in spirit. For the poor in spirit (the humble ones to know that God is our “everything”)

2. The Ones Who Mourn

2. The Ones Who Mourn

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”

You can rest easy knowing that through your struggles and hardships, God will make a way. When there seems to be no way, there will be a way. God puts us through our own personal struggles. Not to condemn us but to grow us and build us up. We will have a way out and he will not leave us in the pit of miry clay. Also know that Everything God does is for a reason. And Nothing goes without being noticed by the Almighty.

3. The Meek

3. The Meek

“Blessed are the Meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”

What is the true definition of being meek? “Meek”= (quiet, gentle, and easily imposed) To be totally submissive to Gods will. It’s not easy to be fully submissive to his will. In fact it is quite hard due to the other fact that we are humans and we want to do our own things. But sometimes doing our “own things” can be really selfish. Gods will is not meant to hurt us, but in fact to build us and strengthen us. His will is not our will. We must be meek to the will of God. And ultimately will inherit the earth with Jesus in his reign.

4. The Hungered & The Thirsty

4. The Hungered & The Thirsty

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”

Do not worry or be afraid, because those who truly desire righteousness will be satisfied. If needed I can simply put it in another perspective. Imagine your really hungry for one certain thing. If you are truly hungry, God will realize that and will fill you & satisfy you. In this case we are talking about being hungry & thirsty for being righteous. What does righteous mean exactly? “Righteous”= (to be right, especially in a moral way.)

5. The Merciful

5. The Merciful

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.“

To be merciful means to be full of mercy. What does mercy mean? “Mercy” = (the compassionate treatment of those in need, especially when it's within one's power to punish or harm them.)

“Mercy” is derived from the Latin word “Merced” or “merces” which means “price paid” sometimes you may be more powerful than someone else, but just because you have more than them or more strength then them doesn’t mean we should always punish those beneath us. We should instead show mercy so hopefully one day, the Almighty might show mercy on us

6. The Pure In Heart

6. The Pure In Heart

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”

To be pure in heart doesn’t just mean being innocent. Obviously we are humans. We’re all gonna have bad thoughts and intrusive and destructive thoughts. Most of those are not our thoughts but more of the devils thoughts. It is important to know that any destructive thoughts that pop up in our mind is not to be trusted, and we are not to agree with them. We are to know right from wrong. We are to want to do right and not to do wrong.

7. Peacemakers

7. Peacemakers

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

This Beatitude agrees with the other beatitudes. To be merciful and not one to stir up things. To be a peacemaker means to bring peace in the middle of agony, a hard time, or even a fight. To not disagree and to dissolve the conflict at hand. God doesn’t want to stir up trouble and cause conflict, that’s the devils job. God wants to bring peace and to be a keeper of peace. A peacekeeper, if we can make the peace he will keep the peace. To be a peacemaker means that we have God on the inside of us. To be the Sons of God.

8. The Persecuted

8. The Persecuted

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

The root word for persecuted is originally derived from the late Latin word persecutor which stands for “pursuer”. The world is going to persecute us but do not be afraid, just remember that what the world does to us, they first did to him. To be persecuted for his sake (the sake of the Gospel and Christ) if you are persecuted and you stand true and tall to your faith, The Lord will reward you.

9. Falsely Accused

9. Falsely Accused

“Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.”

If you are truly walking by faith and with God, you will most likely be persecuted or shamed for your faith at times. This beatitude explains that if this happens do not worry for God understands and you shall be blessed.

It goes on later in the next verse and says

“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” - Mathew 5:12

This verse ends the Beatitudes. Thank you for reading. Gods loves you.

Put first the kingdom of God. And the rest shall follow.

CURATOR'S NOTE

The Beatitudes is famously known for being apart of “The Sermon on The Mount” set in the book of Mathew. The word beatitude means supreme blessedness. The scripture refers to us being blessed in the verses, but to simply say and to explain it, here is the Beatitudes.
