Why Inspiration Matters

Inspiration has 3 core aspects

  • Evocation: it is evoked spontaneously without intention.
  • Transcendence: it involves a moment of clarity and awareness of new possibilities.
  • Approach motivation: it pushes us to transmit, express, or actualize a new idea or vision.

Inspiration involves both being inspired by something and acting on that inspiration.

When spending time alone, put your phone and other devices away. Turn off the television and meditate for a couple of minutes. Sit down comfortably. Close your eyes and ask yourself, “What do I want? “

Listen to music

You can get inspired by listening to good music. If you are feeling tired and stressed out, just listen to good music. It makes you feel peaceful, happy and relaxed.

Curiosity leads us to generate alternatives

When our curiosity is triggered, we are less likely to fall prey to confirmation bias (looking for information that supports our beliefs rather than for evidence suggesting we are wrong) and to stereotyping people (making broad judgments).

Curiosity and innovation

Encouraging people to be curious generates workplace improvements.

When we are curious, we view tough situations more creatively. Studies have found that curiosity is associated with less defensive reactions to stress and less aggressive reactions to provocation.

Reduced group conflict

Curiosity encourages members of a group to put themselves in one another’s shoes and take an interest in one another’s ideas rather than focus only on their own perspective.

Thus, conflicts are less heated, and groups achieve better results.

Do Things Differently

Trying new things or old things in different ways is a quick way to change things if nothing excites you and you’re living a repetitive routine.

Nurture Pleasurable Experiences.

If it doesn’t harm others indulge in the experiences you enjoy, the ones you can’t wait to get involved in.

Things that get you so motivated that you lose track of time while you’re doing it are a good place to start. Nurturing those pleasurable experiences will help your inspiration to flourish and grow.

See The Wonders Of Life

Most people have things they are insecure about and unresolved childhood issues. Those tend to dampen enthusiasm and inspiration.

You can change this by deliberately focusing on the wonderful things of life and being mindful of what you do. This lets you see things differently and reframe life choices more positively.
