However, children are sophisticated thinkers and more capable of abstract thought. In some ways, kids make better philosophers than adults because they question things grown-ups take for granted and are open to new ideas.
The late philosopher Gareth Matthews was one of the first people to notice this. Unlike Piaget, who supposed that children can't yet use logic, Matthews found that kids can reason in subtle ways from the ages of 3 to 7.
