Stop Speaking, Start Listening

There are some important benefits when we listen more and speak less.

  1. Speaking reinforces biased predispositions we developed from self-talk over lifetime. If not accompanied by active listening to corrections and suggestions, we may become rigid with respect to those points.
  2. The first thing to do when choosing to stop speaking is to start listening ourselves. For example, when a friend of ours is speaking to us, listen to what thoughts your mind is circling about. It may tell a lot about yourselves that you were missing when you speak.
  3. Listen to others - you become open to ideas, and friendly.
