Parshuram killed his mother & all his 4 brothers. Deeply impressed by Parshuram's act, he offered him a boon. Parshuram kindly asked to bring back his 4 brothers and mother with all their memory erased about whatever had happened. Jamadagini felt cherished with his pure intentions, granting him the boon.

When she hurriedly reached home Jamadagni known to be a powerful sage, with the deep power of Meditation summoned her all adulterous thoughts about Chitraratha. In massive rage he ordered his 4 son's to kill their mother. But, in the Vedic Culture this is considered as a sin. So, they refused to do it. He then ordered Parshuram to do it.

The Kshatriya-Brahmin avatar was born to a powerful sage named Jamadagini and Renuka. The avatar was born to wipe out the reign of malevolent Kshatriya Kingdoms. The furious axe weapon was gifted to him by Lord Shiva himself.

Although, Parshuram is said to be the reincarnation of Lord Vishnu, he is also known as the person who killed his own mother. His mother Renuka fell in love with a Prince named Chitraratha, just immobilizing & staring at him pleased her eyes but she lost all her senses of time.

He is said to be one of the seven Chiranjeevis (Immortals) and will be alive till the end of Kaliyuga on Earth. The world was overburdened with Kings and soldiers, also known as the Kshtriyas under the Indian Varna system. This created a lot of fight and disturbances in the world. The duty of the rulers of society is to protect religious principles and the teachers of religion, the brahmanas. When they fail to do this they become a burden on the earth. Parashuram chose the life of a warrior, to fight and destroy the abuse of the Kshatriyas who at the time were misusing their powers to hurt the innocent. Although he was born in a Brahmana family, he called himself a Kshatriya-Brahaman. He thought himself weaponry to fight against the Kshatriya kings and eradicated the presence of many Kshatriyas kingdoms on Earth with nothing more than an axe as a weapon, which was presented to him by Shiva. It is said that Parashuram killed the Kshatriya race misusing their powers over twenty-one battles. The wealth and land that he owned upon winning the battles was donated to the Brahmanas and poor people. Then he renounced fighting and went to the Himalayas to perform penances. Parashuram despite being an incarnation Vishnu, is often known as the one who killed his mother.
