Learn to be difficult when it counts. Be assertive towards the things that count, by building something like this around you will see people will come at you with a different mindset.But first, be assertive with yourself.

Assertive Personality

When faced with a discomfort situation:<ul><li>Define your nightmare, the absolute worst that could happen if you did what you are considering.</li><li>What steps can you take to repair the damage, after you took action.</li><li>What are the outcomes/benefits of the most probable scenarios?</li><li>What are you putting off out of fear? (analyze situations)</li><li>What is costing you by postponing the action or situation?</li><li>What are you waiting for?</li></ul> Most things are temporary and if something bad happens it will, probably, be temporary. So if some action has a good outcome for you do it, if the consequences aren't the biggest.
