Jan Vermeer (1632-1675)

The color blue has been historically challenging and expensive to produce in art. It was once more valuable than gold. Artists used lapis lazuli, a precious stone, to create blue pigments, Jan vermeer was a Dutch Golden Age painter known for his exquisite and meticulously detailed scenes, particularly his depictions of domestic life and for some reason, he had an abundance of Blue.
