This question, often linked to anti-natalist thinking, could be an effective solution for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions. Fewer children = fewer greenhouse gases. But is it really? Well, in theory yes, but in practice it would take decades for the effectiveness of the approach to be felt. But what matters in the face of the climate emergency is to reduce emissions now, and if we have children, to teach them to emit as little as possible.
