Don't let other external factors control you. Only you truly know what you want from your existence, so stop letting other people and circumstances control you. You are the one who is responsible for making decisions and taking actions in your life. You are in charge of your own destiny.

The thing is, John, life is an amazing story. It's just that sometimes we forget we're the author, and we can write it however we want..

Most of us are caught up in an idea that one day, for example when we retire, have more money, have more time etc - we will be able to do something that we truly want. But the reality is that you can do whatever that your heart wants today, right now and even everyday. You don't have to wait for a magical one day to come, in order to start doing what you want. And that's the moral of the story that Mike tells John about a fisherman.

The moral of the story is that everyday we are faced with incoming waves made up of different activities and people who take away out energy, attention and time, meanwhile outcoming waves are things that are in tune with our purpose of existing, and make us feel fulfilled. So be more conscious and selective about what you choose to do everyday.
