From experience, I've come to realise that whenever I try to teach a particular subject to my mates, the following happens:
1. My perception about that topic widens
2. I ask myself possible questions that could be asked by those folks, which in turn leads to critical thinking.
3. I gain better understanding, as I have to break that topic to the easiest and simplest form for them to understand.
In summary, You're qthe one who gain learns even more. Do this in your field of interest, and see the massive returns on/in understanding.
