And to keep your motivation high, you can change your situation or how you think about it.According to science (and Fishback), your motivation is higher at the beginning and end of a goal because you are excited when you start a new project or when you are about to finish it. So, building many short goals is better than yearly goals that take months to accomplish.

I am a discipline entushiast. Discipline will allow you to ignore your motivation and keep going until you reach your goals. Or, at least, that’s what I love to think. But it’s not always true.Being disciplined means sticking to a habit until you reach your goal (and possibly even afterward). But research proved you will never keep a habit if it doesn’t give you joy and rewards.Ayelet Fishbach speaks about this in her inspiring TED Talk. She says that motivation requires you to change your situation or how you think about it. Otherwise, you will abandon your goals, even if you are disciplined.
