A few years ago, I had a brilliant New Year’s resolution: I was going to become a morning person. You know, the kind who wakes up before sunrise, drinks a green smoothie and writes three pages of a journal.
January was great. I was waking up at 6 a.m. I was having healthy breakfasts. And I wrote a journal for a while. But in a few weeks, the journaling habit stopped. I started to crave more sugary breakfasts. And waking up at 6 a.m. became too much.
By mid-February, I had failed all my New Year’s resolutions. By the end of the year, I was drowning in unmet goals and feeling defeated.
