Black Holes

A black hole is a region in space where gravity is so strong that nothing, including light, can escape. Black holes are created when massive stars collapse at the end of their lives. There is no escape and all paths lead to the singularity at the center of the black hole; essentially, it maps out the causal structure of spacetime near a black hole, making it clear that time and space become highly distorted within the event horizon, with the singularity appearing as a point in the future light cone for anything that enters the black hole.

  • It’s so massive that not even light can escape its gravity, which is why it’s almost perfectly black.

Black Holes: The Dark Stars

Black Holes: The Dark Stars

A black hole is, like the name itself, a point of singularity and infinite density, which remains invisible, much like the event horizon, which is the surface.

A black hole, from a distance, carries the same properties of mass and gravity like a star would...

Gravity Leads To Black Holes

The infinite weirdness of black holes makes it difficult for a physicist to combine gravity with quantum mechanics (QM).

The fact that gravity works on everything makes it difficult to construct an apparatus to measure the QM properties of gravity. This is because the measuring apparatus c...
