The State of Unbelievers and Hypocrites

The verse refers to the similarities between hypocrites and unbelievers. Both are deaf, blind, and dumb, meaning they do not believe or understand the truth. Hypocrites, even though they may appear Muslim, lack true belief. This unbelief is caused by prejudices, wrong viewpoints, and indulgence in wrongdoing. Like unbelievers, hypocrites are hindered from understanding the truth due to prejudice, pride, egotism, ignorance, or enmity.
