A reading slump is a state in which you just do not want to read because you feel like you are just reading the words on the page and they are not flowing in (iykyk).

<ul><li>You just don't want to pick up any book and read it.</li><li>You quickly lose interest while reading a book.</li><li>You are replacing reading with other, possibly worse, activities.</li><li>You tend to self-sabotage yourself when it comes to procrastinating on reading.</li></ul>

Signs To Notice

As humans, feeling a loss of control about any area of her life puts us down, and this applies to reading books as well. This is why reading slumps are the worst states for avid book readers to be in. Good for you, though, there are ways in which you can get out of it.

It's A Bad State To Be In

Fiction or Non-fiction? Romance or Thriller? Slow-burns or binge-reads? Identify your types. Awareness is a key aspect of change. Find out which genres you like best, then get a good-rated book of that genre to read. It's okay if the book you choose is popular, because your main priority should be to start reading and NOT to finish the book. Don't immediately set a deadline and pressurise yourself. If this tip seems a tad-bit difficult for you, I have more easier ones to try first below!

1. Identify Your Favourite Genres

This tip is an easier one since you can probably start right away without searching and buying a new book. This allows you to get into reading again while feeling comfortable because you know that what you are reading is good because YOU liked it. It gives a sense of assurance which helps in forming a reading habit again.

2. Re-read A Favourite Book

Reading with others is always fun! Get a book buddy to read with. Social media platforms are very helpful for this. A book buddy can hype you up, read with you, and discuss book theories and plots with you too! A real-life book buddy is definitely better than an online one, but you can work with what you have.

3. Try Co-reading

Have a designated space dedicated to reading books. This can be a particular beanbag, your couch, or even a gifted mat you like. Try to make the space comfortable and cosy to motivate yourself to read. This tip works wonders! Experiment with the lighting and accessories around you for an even better experience

4. Set Up A Reading Station

This one is pretty easy. You can make vision boards about books and reading very easily on Pinterest. Make sure to include books from your TBR
