In a wonderful experience that was Call me if you get lost, Tyler the Creator opened my eyes to a realization when it comes to music; very few mainstream artists are original.&nbsp;With the age of fast consumed media, most artists, especially in hip hop adopt sounds that appeal to the mass audience in order to stack up streams and make the radio. This trend is visible on the <a href="https://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Billboard Hot 100</a> which serves as a temporary pedestal before the songs are forgotten entirely. This is also proof that artists prefer quantity over quality.

Originality in Music 

Tyler the Creator, however is an exception. While listening to his discography, you can make out his growth as a person and artist. The boy that sparked headlines with controversial lyrics in his Odd Future days now shows his progress with the victory lap that is CMIYGL.What impressed me the most was his sampling which was reminiscent of Kanye West with his ability to place the right artist at the right moment to create a masterpiece. He even went above and beyond to make an 8 minute song feel like an ethereal experience with a reggae segment that caught me unawares.

Tyler has a unique rapping style that can't be compared to other artists. Tyler's tendency to experiment with sounds, and produce music that is true to him is the main reason why I enjoy his music.After releasing IGOR, an objectively amazing album, I couldn’t imagine him topping it. Tyler however surprised me because instead of trying to outdo IGOR, he went adopted a whole new sound.There might be some life philosophy riddled in here somewhere, I don’t know, I just enjoyed the album. You should also give it a listen.

Call Me If You Get Lost

Ray Bradbury is without a doubt a gifted writer. His book has been a cultural milestone and has been taught in educational institutions across the worldIn Fahrenheit 451, he puts across an overarching theme of a dystopian future in which books are banned and technology has engulfed the masses. That is the selling point of the book, and ironically my main issue with it.While the author paints an accurate picture of people’s reduced concentration spans and an increase in consumerism, majority of the book is spent chastising technology and with it, all its future advancements.

The problem with the “Technology is Bad” narrative 

It goes without saying that technology has brought with it some negative and potentially counterproductive effects ranging from a lack of privacy, increase in the fatality of weapons, addiction among the masses, the list goes on and on.However, I believe that things only harm you if you let them. Opioids become detrimental once abused, Guns become deadly in the wrong hands. Technology is a vessel, and we, humans are the captains.In retrospect, I can understand that in the era that Ray Bradbury wrote the book, technology was but a new innovation, and it’s possibilities were endless and scary.

PLAYING THE DEVIL’S ADVOCATE

To say technology has helped improved lives would be an understatement. Volumes of this research exists, spanning across a plethora of sectors. In the health sector, tech has helped improve life spans and the quality of life through better surgical equipment. In Finance, tech’s influence has been felt. This is the same case in Travel, Mining, Engineering, Urban Planning and even Education as detailed in this <a href="https://www.advergize.com/edu/advantages-technology-modern-life/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">link</a>In conclusion, technology is a deep rooted and ubiquitous part of human life now, and once can’t say that it’s bad or good. One can only hope to reap the benefits from it.
