There are many moments in life when trying too hard is counterproductive. Aldous Huxley called this the law of reversed effort.Try as we might, it is nearly impossible to consciously will yourself to sleep. Sleep comes to those who let their mind wander and focus on anything other than sleep itself. Count sheep, control your breathing, listen to an audiobook, or whatever — so long as it turns your mind from wanting to sleep.

The harder you try, the harder you fall

“The harder we try with the conscious will to do something, the less we shall succeed.”

It’s the idea that the more we try to do something, the worse we become at it.Suppose, for instance, that you are learning how to ride a bike for the first time. You are told to hold the handlebars a certain way, to push off with this foot, to pedal at that speed, to sit in a specific position, to hold your balance here, and so on. There is a small book’s worth of micro-instructions when learning to ride a bike. When we ride a bike, we know all these things, but we do not try to do them. They just happen.In Huxley’s words, it’s “combining relaxation with activity.”

But, there’s a spiritual or holistic way of viewing the “law of reversed effort” as well. It’s something that has a much longer history than Aldous Huxley — it’s the Daoist idea of “Wu Wei.”'The inaction'The word “surrender” comes laden with negative connotation. Surrender is cowardly or weak. To surrender to a greater power — or a nobler, righteous one — is not an act of cowardice.It is an act of profound wisdom. There is nothing praiseworthy about swimming in a storm or punching a bear in the face. There is wisdom in knowing our limits, in embracing humility, and even in being pushed around.

There are many moments in life when trying harder makes things worse. When you have a mosquito bite, a broken bone, or a nosebleed, you leave it be. Picking, prodding, and probing only exacerbate the problem. So, too, with a lot of life’s major moments.Perhaps it is time to step away from what you are doing and enjoy Wu Wei or inaction. After all, if I tell you not to think of pink elephants, there’s only one way to do it.

You can’t force it

Being stuck in overthinking and feeling bad about it makes it a vicious cycle. Sitting back and relaxing makes it easy.

There are many things in life that cannot be improved with greater effort. Sometimes, life requires that you step back.

In 2008, Tina Roth Eisenberg (Swissmiss) started CreativeMornings out of a desire for an ongoing, accessible event for New York’s creative community. The concept was simple: breakfast and a short talk one Friday morning a month. Every event would be free of charge and open to anyone.

In a war chase it’s like when a terrorist drives under a bridge with one car and pop out with multiple identical cars to diverge and distract the chasers.

The writer Jonathan Lethem has said that when people call something " original," nine out of ten times they just don't know the references or the original sources involved.What a good artist understands is that nothing comes from nowhere. All creative work builds on what came before. Nothing is completely original. It's right there in the Bible: "There is nothing new under the sun."

Just as you have a familial genealogy, you also have a genealogy of ideas. You don't get to pick your family, but you can pick your teachers and you can pick your friends and you can pick the music you listen to and you can pick the books you read and you can pick the movies you see.You are, in fact, a mashup of what you choose to let into your life. You are the sum of your influences. The German writer Goethe said, "We are shaped and fashioned by what we love."

There's an economic theory out there that if you take the incomes of your five closest friends and average them, the resulting number will be pretty close to your own income.I think the same thing is true of our idea incomes. You're only going to be as good as the stuff you surround yourself with.

The currency depreciation was seen in Venezuela when the bolivar's purchasing power dropped so low that a person sold sculptures made out of money because as raw material it was worth more than a bill.

<ul><li>Cost-push inflation</li><li>Demand inflation</li></ul>Two big reasons cause inflation; one is the shortage of supply and another is an increase in demand. If right now the pencils we use are in balance with the companies’ production then there would be no sum rise in the prices of the pencils but the cost will substantially increase or decrease if either the demand is not met or the supply is more than what is needed.
