Sleeping sickness is caused by Trypanosoma. Trypanosomes are flagellated protozoans affecting humans and animals. Human trypanosomiasis is endemic in Africa as sleeping sickness (caused by Trypanosoma brucei) and Latin America as Chagas disease (caused by T. cruzi). Human trypanosomiasis is not known to exist in India. However, animal trypanosomiasis is endemic in India.

Sleeping Sickness or African Trypanosomiasis 

A bite by the tsetse fly is often painful and can develop into a red sore, also called a chancre. Fever, severe headaches, irritability, extreme fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and aching muscles and joints are common symptoms of sleeping sickness. Some people develop a skin rash. Progressive confusion, personality changes, and other neurologic problems occur after infection has invaded the central nervous system. If left untreated, infection becomes worse and death will occur within months. *Symptoms usually occurs within 1-3 weeks of the infective bites.

Symptoms

To prevent Sleeping sickness or African Trypanosomiasis, 1. Wear protective clothing, including long-sleeved shirts and pants. The tsetse fly can bite through thin fabrics, so clothing should be made of medium-weight material.

Prevention

2. Wear neutral-colored clothing. The tsetse fly is attracted to bright colors and very dark colors.

3. Inspect vehicles for tsetse flies before entering. The flies are attracted to moving vehicles.

4. Avoid bushes. The tsetse fly is less active during the hottest period of the day. It rests in bushes but will bite if disturbed.

5. Use insect repellant. Though insect repellants have not proven effective in preventing tsetse fly bites, they are effective in preventing other insects from biting and causing illness.

Although Ayodhya is recognized all over the world because of Lord Rama, there is another reason for the people of Korea to connect with Ayodhya. According to the mythological documents of Korea, a princess of Ayodhya became the Empress of Korea. It is recorded in the mythological history of Korea that about two thousand years ago, the princess of Ayodhya, Suriratna nee Hu Hwang Oak, came from Ayuta, that is, Ayodhya, to the city of Kimhye, located in Gyeongsang province, South Korea.

According to the legend mentioned in the Korean mythological document 'Sam Guk Yusa' written in Mandarin language, God himself appeared in the dream of the father of the princess of Ayodhya and asked the princess's father to send his son and the princess to the city of Kimhae for marriage. , where Suriratna will be married to King Suro. At the age of 16, Princess Suriratna was married to Prince Suro of the Kimhae dynasty. The present-day Korea is named after the Kimhye dynasty.

The people of Korea believe that it was the descendants of Suriratna and King Suro who founded the various kingdoms of Korea in the 7th century. Their descendants have been given the name of the Karak dynasty, which are occupying high positions in different countries of the world including Korea. A former President of Korea also belonged to this dynasty.Although the names of many queens are recorded in the history of Korea, but Suriratna was considered the most revered and sacred among all, due to which her roots were associated with Ayodhya, the city of Lord Rama.

The story of the marriage of King Suro and Suriratna is also recorded in the Korean mythological document 'Sam Kuk Yusa', according to which Rani Hau (ie Suriratna), wife of King Suro, who founded the Karaka dynasty in ancient Korea, was originally from Ayut (Ayodhya). was a princess. To marry Suro, her father sent her to the Karak kingdom in South Korea by sea.

As of today, about six million people of the Karaka tribe in Korea claim to be the descendants of King Suro and the princess of Ayodhya. The population of people who believe in the tales of Suro and Suriratna is one tenth of the total population of South Korea.

The former President of Korea, Kim Dae-jung, and former Prime Ministers Heo Jeong and Jong-Pil belonged to the Kim Karak dynasty. The people of the Karaka dynasty have also preserved the stone about which it is said that the princess of Ayodhya, Suriratna, had brought it to maintain the balance of the boat during her sea voyage. There is also a statue of Princess Hau in the city of Kimhae.

A group of people from the Karaka dynasty living in Korea visit Ayodhya every year during February-March to pay tribute to Princess Suriratna's homeland. Although it is not mentioned anywhere in Indian ancient documents that Suriratna was married to the king of Korea, although a brochure of the tourism department of Uttar Pradesh mentions the queen of Korea. There is no evidence even in Indian documents that Princess Suriratna was related to the lineage of Lord Rama. According to related legends Suriratna or Hau died at the age of 57.

This is a mythological story which is very unknown in India.
