It would be wise first off, to remove from your life, things which bring you no value- these may include:1. Things which you do out of habit, but have no use anymore.2. Things which you do for short term pleasure, but bring you more harm in the long term3. Other things which you think you need but haven't thought about deeply enough- ask yourself of everything: "is this necessary?"

Essentialism: How To Begin?

Make sure before starting a new hobby, buying a new thing, whether you would actually use it, will be benefited from it, whether it is *truely* necessary.

Essentialism: Sticking With It

Keep your workspace tidy, keep your phone minimal, with minimal apps, keep your mind free of things which are of less importance. For example, have a schedule so that you don't have to think about every small detail of your day.

What the emperor means here is that it's natural to fall out of the state of rhythm, a state of virtuous action, and make mistakes occasionally. We make not always behave the way we expect ourselves to, it's a skill, a skill that we get better at the more we keep trying again everytime we fail. The point is to keep trying to be virtuous

Be willing to take risks. Don't live the life of a worm, who simply does everything for the sake of comfort. Be driven by a purpose, beyond accumulating objects of comfort. Take risks, live dangerously.

1. Courage

Resilience is also a part of courage. Persist through tough times. Use past failures as guides, work through them logically, find what you must change. Remain unwavering, in the toughest of times, have the calmest of minds. Do not get angry or frustrated, accept the situation as it arose, understand that it is simply in the nature of the universe that this were to happen, and that to get angry at this is against the nature of the universe and of man.

Courage (Resilience)

Do effective things, eliminate the unnecessary. Have necessary things, eliminate the extravagant. Say less, say only the effective things. Eat less, eat healthy in so far as it allows you to work tirelessly toward your purpose.

Temperance

Be just to others. Be tolerant of others, see their side of things. Be strict with yourself and be tolerant with others. Forgive more.Read both sides of an argument. Eliminate any bias as far as possible. Act out in a just way, in a moral way, and even a kind way. Being kind is a trait of the divine.

Justice

Between what happens to us, and what we react to it, there is a gap. This gap is where wisdom presides. A wise man uses this gap and reacts appropriately to the stimulus that the outside world offers us. What is appropriate, the wise man decides based on the knowledge he has, the wisdom of the people of the past, that of the people around him, of old men and of children alike, that of rocks and pebbles too. Standing atop shoulders of giants, he navigates through life. The wise man is ever learning, and absorbs wisdom from the universe like a sponge.

Remember that you can't expect yourself to always be on track, and doing what is right all the time. You will get off track, maybe even long way gone before you realise. But the important thing is this:Once you realise that you have been going off track, going off the right path, not doing the right thing, making bad decisions, quickly gather yourself up. The rational choice is to forgive yourself, yet remember and learn from your mistakes. Your past mistakes should not be an excuse for your present behaviors.

If You Lose Track, Don't Cry About It, Just Get Back On It

When you make a first mistake, and then you keep blaming yourself for it, instead of gathering yourself up, forgiving yourself, and getting back on the rational path, making usual, rational, correct good decisions and judgements, then you are liable to making a second much more grave of a mistake, which will land you in a worse position. If you have landed in a pit, you don't sit and weep, and sink deeper, you get up quickly and find ways to get out of the pit.

It's Always The Second Mistake That Takes You Down

You will make mistakes, you cannot suddenly become immune to making mistakes, even the wisest of sages make errors in judgement.The brain is a biological organ after all, no matter how well trained, even the slightest of a loss of focus, will lead it to oversights, indulgence, errors, emotional outbursts. You have to learn to forgive yourself for this, and learn from these errors, and quickly get back to doing the right thing, having the right mindset, behaving rationally and logically, and going on the right path.

Meditations (Medieval Greek: Τὰ εἰς ἑαυτόν, romanized: Ta eis he'auton, lit. 'things to one's self') is a series of personal writings by Marcus Aurelius, Roman Emperor from 161 to 180 AD, recording his private notes to himself and ideas on Stoic philosophy. Marcus Aurelius wrote the 12 books of the Meditations in Koine Greek as a source for his own guidance and self-improvement. It is possible that large portions of the work were written at Sirmium, where he spent much time planning military campaigns from 170 to 180. Some of it was written while he was positioned at Aquincum on campaign in Pannonia, because internal notes tell us that the first book was written when he was campaigning against the Quadi on the river Granova (modern-day Hron) and the second book was written at Carnuntum.

Marcus Aurelius Antoninus was Roman emperor from 161 to 180 AD and a Stoic philosopher. He was the last of the rulers known, noncontemporaneously, as the Five Good Emperors and the last emperor of the Pax Romana, an age of relative peace, calmness and stability for the Roman Empire lasting from 27 BC to 180 AD.

<li>List out the Pros and Cons of buying the item.</li>
<li>Avoid temptations, avoid going on to Amazon for example, don't window shop. You never know when the window shopping turns into actual shopping.</li>
<li>Always look at ads and offers skeptically.</li>
<li>Find a hobby or any other free/cheap alternative, to replace shopping.</li>
<li>Research affordable options carefully and patiently.</li>
