- Relentless fact-checking.
- Have a desire to determine the truth.
- Curiosity.
- Novel ideas that drive progress.
These characteristics need not be possessed in equal measure. Also, don't hold an extreme belief in any specific truth. Believing conspiracies is worse than being convinced by orthodox beliefs.
