To answer a question, more questions must be asked.
Well, the simple answer is most of us feel stuck in the past and can’t get over it and keep dwelling upon it which worsens the condition as if the Past happens to us and we can’t do anything but think more of it.
Past is not some random place but the memory of some events.
If you get a bit deeper into the concepts like Quantum Physics, Time Traveling, and even spirituality you’ll get to know that time and space have a memory. It’s been said that every human has a certain level of energy with a different form of aura, so if I sit on a chair and get away after some time that chair will store a buffer of memory that temporarily filled with my energy prints until unless some other energy source doesn’t alter my energy in that particular memory.
Past is not about the event itself which causes the suffering but the Effect and the Meaning we derive from that event.
It’s not what happens to us but how we respond to the situation that matters.
Every time you go back to your past you change it. The past is just the raw material to work with. It’s entirely malleable and flexible. You get to take the pieces and choose which ones to discard and how you are going to frame them.
As the neuroscientist, Dr. Donna Bridge said, “A memory is not simply an image produced by time-traveling back to the original event — it can be an image that is somewhat distorted because of the prior times you remembered it… Your memory of an event can grow the less precise event to the point of being totally false with each retrieval.”
In physics, there’s a concept known as the observer effect, which shows that the mere observation of a phenomenon inevitably changes the phenomenon.
So every time you look at your past it will change because it is just a memory.
“Regardless of what happened to you in the past, no matter how unique, terrible (or wonderful) it was, you have the same ability to shape who you were and who you will become.”
Quite literally, you are the Designer of your Past. So create your story which upgrades your present based on your future identity not on the past.
