Question Everything

Question Everything

  • Growth and change is a necessity in life. Having the ability to question all of your own beliefs and altering them when better ideas are presented to you is one of the keys to progress. This doesn't mean that you cant hold strong opinions about things, it just means that you shouldn't get married to your beliefs and if you do, be ok with cheating on them.
  • Great traders change their opinions all the time which is why it is useless asking good traders what positions they are holding because, by the end of the day, they may have just bought a lot of positions in the opposite direction.

How to Actually Generate Better Ideas

How to Actually Generate Better Ideas

  • Striving for 'good explanations' is the first step. These are explanations that are hard to vary, where changing the details would ruin the explanation. e.g. "eating sand cures the common cold" is a bad explanation because if it doesn't work then I could just say that you didn't eat enough sand.
  • I believe that another big factor involved in generating positive change is through open dialogue. Having open discussion with people who challenge your views allows you to remain open to new/ different ideas (as long as you aren't just using this to argue with people-you must remain willing to change).
