1. Significance of the Tongue Gift.

Out of all the gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10, only speaking in other tongues was not performed in Old Testament times. People began to flow in this supernatural ability only after the ascension of Christ and advent of the HolySpirit.

Speaking in tongues is therefore proof and declaration that, truly Christ is glorified; seated with the Father from and has sent us the Holy Spirit who now lives within (not upon) us just as promised.

The Kingdom of God is the reign of divine power that makes the impossible possible and upholds the will of God. It is both a coming reality and an inner spiritual experience.

To enter this Kingdom, we must have eternal life which is found in Jesus and given by the Holy Spirit. This is why we must believe in Jesus, who is the Son of Man, and be born again. To be born again means to receive the Holy Spirit, who gives us spiritual life. (Mark 16:16-17, John 3:2-21)

3. Receiving the Holy Spirit may not always be instantaneous.

In the book of Acts, we find an example of believers in Ephesus who hadn't received the Holy Spirit even though they believed in Jesus. Upon realizing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and received the Holy Spirit (Acts 19:1-5).

This indicates that receiving the Holy Spirit isn't always immediate, and there might be moments of waiting.

4. It is possible to have received the Holy Spirit and not realize it.

Reasons why: The receiving of the Holy Ghost is a mystery(John 3:8) and a spiritual occurrence. Thus, it is spiritually discerned (1 Cor 2:14)

It is a supernatural experience that is not dependent on human intelligence for it occur.

Nonetheless, overtime , the Holy Spirit leaves signs indicating his presence for He wants his presence known. So between these events is an interval of oblivion, teaching, and discernment.

5.Speaking in tongues is for every believer.

Speaking in tongues is a gift from the Holy Spirit and is available to all believers. The belief that this gift is reserved for a select few is a misconception.

In all instances in the Bible where people spoke in tongues, it is recorded that all present spoke in tongues.

6. Different spiritual gifts and their activation.

While the gift of tongues is available to all believers, not every believer will necessarily speak in tongues.

A believer’s sustained ability to speak in tongues is a function of desire, spiritual growth, and involvement in the service of God. All three elements are within a believer’s circle of influence.

Conclusion

The inability to speak in tongues does not imply that you have not received the Holy Spirit. Being born again means having the presence of the Holy Spirit within you. However, as believers grow and mature in their faith, they may start to function in various spiritual gifts, including tongues.
