Spacing as punctuation

Words in print contain graphic qualities that influence the meaning. When these divisions are present, they imply order and design.

• Several divisions can look more striking when using Roman numerals, Arabic numbers, or headings.
• To suggest a passage of time in narrative writing, employ space or other punctuation. 
• Punctuation can be used to change the tone or point of view in expository writing.
