Not by your circumstances.Circumstances are neutral. However, we can decide what meaning to give to our circumstances. And that will determine how we feel. Whatever we think creates our feelings. Our feelings determine how we show up. How we show up creates our results, which becomes our new circumstances.

The things that provide upgrades or improvements to our lives are new to us. This means we haven't experienced it yet, so we will be uncomfortable with it.

There is no perfect time to do anything

It's usually fear that keeps you from doing things that you want to do. It's not that you can't to the thing. It's that you won't.Our brains prevent us from doing things. This is because our brains have two basic jobs: to keep us safe and to prove us right.If it finds anything that it perceives as a threat, such as something we're not used to, our brains will try to protect us from that.So, fear will keep us from success and happiness.

8 Harsh Truths You Need To Accept To Live A Happy Life

There is little that individuals can do to avoid inflation at the cash register, but people can make certain moves to protect against its effects. Buffett repeated his long-held advice at a 2022 Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting that one of the strongest protections against inflation is to be exceptionally good at something. People will give you what they produce in exchange for what you deliver.

In 2009, at the end of the Great Recession, Buffett shared similar advice when he said, “the best thing to do is invest in yourself.” Buffett also said the next best thing a person could do is invest in “a wonderful business” that makes products that are in demand regardless of the dollar's performance. He used Cola-Cola as an example of a product people will pay for regardless of inflation.

A new study looked at how regenerative farming practices — soil-building techniques, the use of cover crops, and planting diverse crops — affected the nutritional content of the food.The results of the preliminary experiment, which included 10 farms across the US, show that the crops from farms using soil-friendly practices for five years or more had an increase in certain minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals that benefit human health.

Regenerative farming practices are better for our health

Results of the new study showed that the farms practising regenerative agriculture had healthier soils, as measured by their organic matter, carbon content and by a standard test. The regeneratively farmed soils had twice as much carbon in their topsoil and a threefold increase in their soil health score.

Practising regenerative agriculture produces healthier soils

Compared with their conventionally grown neighbours, food grown under regenerative practices contained, on average:<ul><li>More magnesium, calcium, potassium and zinc</li><li>More vitamins, including B1, B12, C, E and K</li><li>More phytochemicals, compounds that have been shown to reduce inflammation and boost human health.</li></ul> Crops were also lower in elements broadly detrimental to human health, including sodium, cadmium and nickel.The beef and pork raised on regenerative agriculture feed were higher in omega-3 fatty acids than meat from a conventional feedlot.

Farms following soil-friendly practices grow healthier food, study suggests

American arborist Paul Gautschi was the inspiration behind the documentary, Back to Eden (2010). This film ignited a gardening movement that earned the name "Back to Eden Gardening." Paul Gautschi is a world-renowned vegetable gardener. He practices a sustainable permaculture method that eliminates most of the work associated with gardening. His approach is so simple that anyone can do it. However, many gardeners make common gardening mistakes.

Viewers of the film came to understand that Paul adds fresh arborist wood chips to his vegetable garden. However, he only adds composted wood chips that have been screened, raking them to a thickness of 2 inches. He adds woodchips once every three years.

Don't use fresh woodchips on a vegetable garden 

Composted wood chips that have been screened are very different to fresh arborist wood chips. <ol><li class="ql-align-justify">Arborist Wood Chips: Raw wood chips from tree trimming waste that has not had time to decompose. </li><li class="ql-align-justify">Composted Wood Chips: Wood chips from tree trimming waste that have had at least six months to decompose.</li><li class="ql-align-justify">Composted Wood Chips that have been Screened:  Wood chips from tree trimming waste that has been composted for at least six months and then screened to remove large wood chips that have not decomposed. </li></ol>

Understanding wood chips

Paul Gautchi composts his vegetable garden with composted chicken manure. Paul feeds his chickens the green waste that comes out of the garden. In the fall, he uses a screen and wheel barrel to sift through the soil in his chicken run. Then he applies about 1/2 inch to 1 inch of the composted chicken manure onto his garden.

Paul mentions that in 1979, he first added straw and sheep manure to his orchard but then switched. He added 12 inches of fresh arborist wood chips to his orchard to compost in place without tilling and the waste from his woodstove. He does not add chicken manure or other fertilizers to his orchard. The documentary shows the results of a no-till wood chip mulched orchard after 30 years. When you start a Back to Eden garden and/or orchard you won't see similar results after one season. It will take some time to see results.

Paul uses raw arborist woodchips in his orchard

<ol><li>Cover your garden with wood chips. Fresh arborist wood chips are the cheapest (free) but need time to decompose before they are ready to plant in.</li><li>Add the wood chips in the Fall. In the Spring, pull back the coarse wood chips and plant in the soil and/or compost beneath.</li><li>Do not till the wood chips into your soil. It is high in carbon and will tie up the nitrogen.</li><li>Be patient. Every year, you will build more soil by adding organic matter, creating more nutrient-rich food for your plants.</li></ol>

Gardening take aways from the Back To Eden film

<ol><li>Apply at least 3-4 sheets of newspaper.</li><li>Apply at least 3-4 inches of organic compost.</li><li>Apply at least 3-4 inches of wood chips as a mulch on your garden.</li><li>Apply a dusting of composted animal manure as a natural fertilizer on top of your garden as needed throughout the growing season. </li><li>Do not add chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides. </li><li>Ensure your vegetable garden and orchard are always mulched. </li></ol>
