Test Yourself (Active Recall)

Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe

Spend a decent amount of time figuring out the meta-learning behind what actually we are going to learn

Sharpen The Axe 

<ul><li>At the start of a learning journey, it’s better to receive encouragement rather than constructive feedback </li><li>Afterwards, avoid the praise and instead focus on the critical and constructive feedback </li></ul>

Get Intense Feedback Often

Continuously ask yourself the why behind what you are learning

Overlearning 

Whenever we learn anything, due to the forgetting curve, our memory is going to decay over time. If we repeat the thing at spaced intervals, eventually, it will go to our long term memory.

Spacing 

We learn best when we are in the environment where we actually are going to use the skill

Find Opportunities For Immersion

<ul><li>The 5 Minute Rule: if you have problems with starting something, convince yourself you are only going to do it for five minutes, then perhaps you can keep going </li><li>Take your Phone Away</li></ul>

Use Crutches (Hacks) To Optimise Your Focus 

Afterwards, use drills to try to improve them. Don’t do the things you know you already manage.

Figure Out What Are Your Weak Links

We don’t learn best from experts, we learn best from people who are one step in front of us in the same journey. Embrace the learning opportunity and document it, to teach it to someone else someday in the future
