Lightsabers are shown to strike surfaces just like a real sword, but they are made of photons with no mass, so hitting something physical, or producing a sound when striking an object is only in the fictional realm

Current technology can create a high-powered laser beam in the shape of a glowing rod made of plasma but it still would not have the practical usage, namely, the sword fights shown in the Star Wars series.
